Total Defence Day | Together We Keep Singapore Strong | Total Defence Day is commemorated on 15 February annually to mark Singapore's fall to the Japanese in 1942. Students reflect on (a) the importance of Total Defence (b) the continuing relevance of the six pillars of Total Defence and (c) the core message of every Singaporean standing together, each playing our part to protect Singapore and our shared way of life. |
International Friendship Day | Singapore: Forging Friendships in a Complex World | International Friendship Day is commemorated on the 3rd Friday of Term 2. This day is dedicated to help students understand and appreciate Singapore's relations with neighbouring countries and beyond. Students reflect on the importance of the spirit of friendship and collaboration amongst different people. |
Racial Harmony Day | Our People, Our Tapestry | Racial Harmony Day is commemorated on 21 July to mark the anniversary of the 1964 race riots. Students reflect on and celebrate Singapore as a harmonious society built on a rich diversity of cultures and the collaborative effort of all to promote social cohesion. |
National Day | Majulah Singapura, Go Beyond! | National Day is commemorated on the last school day before 9 August. This day marks our separation from Malaysia in 1965, and our emergence as an independent country in a community of nations. The school-based commemoration brings to students a sense of the historical importance and solemnity of National Day. This year also marks Pledge 60, the 60th anniversary of the National Pledge. Students reflect on the significance of the Pledge and our shared national identity and strengthen our collective commitment to the nation. They learn about what the Pledge means to them and how they can live out the values in the Pledge through their daily words and deeds. National Education (NE) Show Our Primary 5 students get to attend the NE Show, which is a preview of the National Day Parade, to appreciate the significance of National Day. This is one of the key student development experiences for the P5 cohort. |
2) The ACSian Identity
To develop students into ‘citizens of ACS(P)’, the school provides meaningful learning opportunities that help them build a strong sense of identity and belonging. It is through this deep connection to the school that students develop genuine school pride and affection.
This is achieved through lessons on ACS history and heritage, the celebration of key school events such as Founder's Day and Honours Day, active participation in school activities, and the opportunity to represent the school in competitions.
